SAL Consultants - Aviation Safety Company 2005

Aviation Safety Company 2005 - SAL Consultants

Birmingham May 5 th 2005 …The Institute of Transport Management has just announced its preliminary findings from its annual research into the aviation industry. The study which is undertaken annually by the Institute’s research team, seeks to establish future trends affecting growth in aviation, in order to contribute to the further education of all parties involved in the supply chain. The research is further enhanced by a specially formulated `Roll of Honour`, created to recognise outstanding contributions to the development of global aviation standards by individual corporations worldwide.

Commenting on this year’s nominations for accreditation in the sector, Mr. Patrick Sheedy, Media & PR Director for the Institute of Transport Management said: “The Institute’s contribution to the development of best practice in the global aviation industry is achieved by setting standards through benchmarking for others to follow. The corporations named in this year’s ‘Roll of Honour’ are found to demonstrate the type of commitment to excellence needed right through the global aviation industry.”

One such company singled out for its involvement in the development of all aspects of Air Traffic Control, is SAL Consultants. Awarded ‘Aviation Safety Company 2005’, the company was founded in 1985 as an ATC Consultancy Company by Douglas Spragg – a twenty year ATC veteran - to address the broad development aspects of Air traffic Control - including airspace design, modelling and simulation using an in-house software product range – ATCTestingPro, ATCDesignerPRO and ATCSimPRO.

The company draws on the experience of over 60 independent consultants with a broad range of practical experience in all operational and software needs and provides a full spectrum of development services - from first conception to operational implementation – to ICAO and UK Ministry of Defence standards. Services covered also include; communications systems, documentation, training, regulatory/legal aspects and policy issues.

Commenting on the award, Mr. Patrick Sheedy, Media & PR Director for the Institute said: “As aviation is a constantly changing and developing sector, the ITM were keen to invest this accreditation in a company which demonstrates a customer-centered approach, supplemented by a broad product range, which can undertake the various requirements for the smallest airfield to negotiations at the highest levels. With SAL, new specialisations are constantly being adopted in relation to airport airside operations and the safety assessment of Air Traffic Management systems.

“Furthermore, with Sal’s software product range and its most recent additions; the ‘Head Up Display’ for the Control Tower and the ‘multi-layer cursor’ system which permits the addressing of data underlying windows, SAL demonstrates its dedication to the fact that the ATC planner should be the master and the system the slave.

Mr. Sheedy concludes: “We at the Institute are delighted to accredit this company for its stringent regard for the overriding importance of every aspect of the planner’s job and the enormous contribution their systems make to these efforts. It only remains for me to congratulate Douglas and all associated with the consultancy for their success in winning this award and wish them continued success in the future.”
